Stadtpflanzen und Taschenfilme

Urban Gardening & Pocket Films

24 September – 3 October 2010, Wienstation, Lerchenfelder Gürtel Bogen 28, 1080

exhibition and pocket films presentation / pocket film competition / film programme / dialogues, talks and artistic interactive action

The series of events Stadtpflanzen und Taschenfilme - Urban Gardening & Pocket Films  is devoted to the topical themes of urban gardening and the revolutionary medium of pocket films - films that are produced with mobile phones and smart phones.

The whole event consists of a pocket film competition and its presentation, a series of films, an exhibition and talks.
It deals with reconquering urban spaces through subversive forms of urban communal and intercultural gardening, a topic that is relevant as far as a city’s economic situation is concerned as well as in socio-political respect.
Renowned Austrian artists and filmmakers are invited to produce pocket films on the topic of “plant stories” and a pocket film competition invites the general public to produce individual “plant stories”.
Talks with experts and a selected film programme further examine the global dimension of urban gardening.
Co-operations with renowned pocket film festivals are initiated for the presentation of pocket film contributions on the internet.

Please note: public submission to the pocket film competition is already closed!

INVITATION TO THE POCKET FILM COMPETITION
“Three Minutes in the Life of an Urban Plant …”

Have you got a mobile phone? And do you love plants? If yes, then do take part in our competition!

Film your favourite plants and tell us their stories, since plants have got a curriculum vitae as well and – who knows? – they may even have dreams of life … .
Film plants at home, in your immediate neighbourhood, in your workplace, while you are on holiday.
Or: Film a public urban gardening action.

The three most interesting film stories about plants will be awarded great prizes.

The competition will take place as part of “Stadtpflanzen und Taschenfilme / Urban Gardening and Pocket Films”, a series of events that will deal with the topic of reconquering urban spaces through subversive forms of urban communal and intercultural gardening, a topic that is becoming more and more relevant - as far as a city’s economic situation is concerned as well as in socio-political respect.
