Unlike Abramovic and Ulay, PRINZpod — Brigitte Prinzgau and Wolfgang Podgorschek — have managed to live and work together for forty years while creating an internationally acclaimed body of work of great poetic and political significance. Their practice spans visual arts, design, architecture, and film — carried by a spirit of solidarity, anti-capitalism, anarchism, insight, relish, and tongue-in-cheek intervention — consistently defying the rules of the art market.
They continually explore the idea of the right life and the conditions that make it possible: the culture of remembrance, visions of the future, analytical clarity in the face of imbalances in power structures, the economy, working conditions, and transportation — and, not least, serenity, humor, and a profound sense of beauty.
The film offers not only a glimpse into the rich universe of PRINZpod’s ideas and the processes through which their art emerges, but also a touching portrayal of how two people manage to keep the creative fire burning in their everyday lives over the course of decades.
