Alarm

AT 2025, 90 min, Judith Zdesar

In a world where disasters are omnipresent, ALARM follows the volunteer firefighters of Wiener Neustadt through their operations, training sessions, and the waiting periods in between. The film provides an intimate, unfiltered glimpse into a world defined by constant preparation for the next emergency. Through bodycam footage, we experience the firefighters' work up close: whether during accidents, fires, or in the quiet moments waiting for the next call. The focus is not necessarily on the spectacular images of their missions but rather on the quiet struggle with the inevitability of danger, loss, and death.

ALARM portrays young volunteers who are confronted with serious challenges for the first time, as well as seasoned firefighters who have already witnessed a great deal of trauma. The film examines how they cope with constant threat and questions how one can find stability in a fragile world where the unexpected can happen at any moment. A cinematic reflection on the existential uncertainty of our time.
